Making healthcare screenings more accessible to underprivileged communities

We organise general health check-up camps for the less privileged across Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, and South 24 Parganas. So far, we have benefitted over 4,142 people by providing them with free healthcare services and essential medicines.

Free eye check-up and cataract surgery

We have conducted free eye check-up camps in Purba Medinipur, benefitting 4,601 marginalised individuals and providing free spectacles to 2,137 of them. Further, 1,638 individuals benefitted from free cataract surgery in Purba Medinipur, Paschim Medinipur, South 24 Parganas, Hooghly, and Howrah. In partnership with Indira Gandhi Eye Hospital, our Jagdishpur Plant also organised 15 cataract camps through which 760 patients were able to receive cataract surgery.

Our Jagdishpur Plant organised two blood donation drives which saw the active participation of 116 IIPL employees.

Support for the differently-abled

We have helped improve the quality of life for 400 individuals with disabilities from marginalised communities in Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas by providing them with essential assistive devices such as wheelchairs, tricycles, hearing aids, and artificial limbs.

A three-day amputee camp was organised in February 2023 at Indorama Shaktiman Vocational Training Centre in collaboration with Bhagwan Mahaveer Vikalang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), a world-renowned NGO that provides free-of-cost prosthetic limbs to persons with disabilities. During this drive, 120 artificial limbs, 48 calipers, and 25 pairs of crutches were donated to 186 patients.

Menstrual hygiene awareness

Our Haldia Plant routinely conducts awareness campaigns on menstrual hygiene at government schools in Purba Medinipur and South 24 Parganas. The team also facilitated the installation of 13 sanitary napkin vending machine and incinerators at the schools, Block Development Office (BDO), and panchayat offices. 900 hygiene kit were also distributed within the community.

300 blankets were distributed to poor and needy senior citizens in villages near our Jagdishpur Plant on 21 December 2022 to commemorate the birthday of Mr. Mohan Lal Lohia, the visionary founder of Indorama Corporation.

Our Jagdishpur Plant facilitated the installation of seven new science laboratories along with furniture at five Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and two upper primary schools, benefitting over 849 students. 350 sets of desks and benches were also donated to eight schools, benefitting 1,050 students.

Our Jagdishpur Plant facilitated the construction of a ‘pink police booth’ on Road No. 1 Jagdishpur, Amethi, aimed at enhancing the safety of women and girls in the region. This booth was inaugurated on 12 March 2023 by Union Cabinet Minister Ms Smriti Irani.

Heath ATMs are machines equipped to conduct pathological tests, dispense free medication, and enable patients to remotely interact with doctors. Our Jagdishpur Plant has facilitated the installation of Health ATMs at 10 Community Health Centres across Amethi district.

Indorama Public School
IIJ SCHOOL

Founded in 1986, Indorama Public School sprawls over 18 acres of land in Jagdishpur. Equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and boasting a healthy teacher-to-student ratio of 1:28, it has emerged as the school of choice for children of IIPL employees. Several students from Indorama Public School have also gone on to successfully clear competitive examinations and qualify for National Level competitions.

IIJ HOSPITAL

Established in 1989, the Indo Gulf Jan Seva Trust Hospital is fully equipped with an operation theatre, state-of-the-art maternity and childcare facilities, advanced diagnostic capabilities, and a diverse team of medical specialists. The hospital also houses a pharmacy that offers medicines at discounted rates.

Skill development

Equipping women and youth with employable skill sets

Vocational courses for women

We partnered with NGOs to provide vocational training to underprivileged women in Kolkata and Haldia. A total of 160 women acquired skills in tailoring, while another 110 women completed beautician courses. Upon completing the training, the women received a startup kit to assist them in launching their own businesses.

We provided training to 327 underprivileged women from rural areas in Purba Medinipur and Paschim Medinipur, focusing on poultry farm management. After completing the training, we provided each of them with a small poultry farm to start, which included poultry chicks, medicine, and feed.

Project Kaushalya: Vocational training for youth
Project Kaushalya

Under Project Kaushalya, a total of 388 youth received training in five different trades at Indorama Shaktiman Vocational Training Centre. Nearly 70% of them have successfully secured employment in various companies or have become self-employed.
